Sustainability


Whilst we can be proud of our achievements and growth as a business over the past 12 years, it is important that we continue to improve ourselves. We aim to improve all areas and communities in which we work

 

In the coming years we will strive to achieve and exceed the needs and requirements of our clients, customers and stakeholders. It is vital that our objective are in line with meeting local and national policy and standards, including Welsh Government’s Well-being of Future Generations Act and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

 

Our Vision

Our aim is to provide and improve the infrastructure and environment to support a vibrant economy with cohesive communities without a detrimental effect on the environment.

Our Objectives and Targets 

Under each key priority we set objectives and targets which will support the seven goals of the Well-being of Wales Future Generations Act and deliver our sustainability vision.




 

Health and Safety


As a company, we are committed to implement this policy statement throughout our internal management system, all associated procedures and practices in all aspects of our business scope of activities. We are committed to the attainment of company and client requirements, and recognize that continually improving our performance is a key factor in our continuing business success. We ensure that the appropriate procedures cover all applicable environmental, quality and health and safety areas of our business and our operations.


While the management of AWilliams Contract Services Ltd, will all that is within its powers to ensure the health and safety of its employees and subcontractors, it is recognized that health and safety at work is the responsibility of each individual associated with the company. It is the duty of the individual to take reasonable care to maintain their own well being along with the well being of others and report any situation which may pose potential threat to their well being or the well being of others.


An effective health and safety program requires continuous communication between employees at all levels, and continuous assessment to ensure efficiency of the program. It is therefore every employee’s responsibility to report immediately any situation, which could jeopardies the well being of themselves or any other person.


All employees and sub-contractors must be aware of the policy and adhere to AWilliams Contract Services Ltd rules and procedures relating to Health and Safety,


As a company, AWilliams Contract Services Ltd are committed to Health and Safety and confirm we shall:

  •  Ensure good H&S practices throughout the business so far as is reasonably practicable
  • All employees will be provided with such equipment, information, training and supervision as is necessary to  implement and maintain the policy and achieve the company’s annual improvement plan (H&S objectives).
  • Provide and maintain health and safety work/welfare facilities on all sites.
  • Provide adequate control of any potential risks from all work activitieS.
  • Provide and maintain safe and certified plant and equipment
  • All activities undertaken by AWilliams Contract Services Ltd must have been assessed for any potential risks. Site specific Risk Assessment and Method Statement must be in place prior to works commencing on site.
  • Allocate appropriate finance and resources where appropriate to improve H&S throughout the business.
  • Report all RIDDOR categorized accidents, incidents, near misses or dangerous occurrences and all close calls for all operations.
  • Protect the H&S of all visitors to the company, including subcontractors and temporary staff, as well as members of the client staff and general public.
  • Provide training for employees to undertake works safely.
  • Providing sufficient resources for the management of H&S.
  • Setting and monitoring safety objectives through the company’s annual audits and improvement plan.
  • Aim to continually improve our safety performance through compliance monitoring and feedback.


Modern Slavery Statement

Modern slavery is a heinous crime in which people are treated as commodities and exploited for criminal gain. It can affect individuals and communities across the globe, it can also take place, right here, in the UK.

As a responsible and ethical business AWilliams Contract Services Ltd is committed to respecting human / labour rights and to take all reasonable steps to ensure that modern slavery (in any form) does not take place in our sphere of influence. Transparency throughout our supply chain is critical in achieving this goal.

 

AWilliams Contract Services Ltd - Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy

This policy applies to all persons working for or on behalf of AWilliams in any capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, officers, agency workers, seconded workers, volunteers, agents, contractors and suppliers.

AWilliams strictly prohibits the use of modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chain. We have and will continue to be committed to implementing systems and controls aimed at ensuring that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere within our organisation or in any of our supply chains. We expect that our suppliers and contractors will hold their own suppliers to the same standard.

Modern slavery is a term used to encompass slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, bonded and child labour and human trafficking. Human trafficking is where a person arrange or facilitates the travel of another person wit ha view to that person being exploited. Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. AWilliams is committed to enforcing the Modern Slavery Act (2015).

AWilliams expects everyone working with us or on our behalf to support and uphold the following measures to safeguard against modern slavery:
  • We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery in our organisation and supply chain,
  • The prevention, detection and reporting of modern slavery in any part of our organisation or supply chain is the responsibility of all those working for us or on our behalf. Workers must not engage in, facilitate or fail to report any activity that might lead to, or suggest, a breach of this policy; and
  • We are committed to engaging with our stakeholders and suppliers to address the risk of modern slavery in our operations and supply chain.
We take a risk based approach to our contracting processes and keep then under review. We assess whether the circumstances warrant the inclusion of specific prohibitions against the use of modern slavery and trafficked labour in our contracts with third parties. Using our risked based approach we will also assess the merits of writing to suppliers requiring them to comply with our Code of Conduct, which sets out the minimum standards requires to combat modern slavery and trafficking.

Consistent with our risk bases approach we may require:
  •  Employment and recruitment agencies and other third parties supplying workers to our organisation to confirm their compliance with our Code of Conduct; and
  • Suppliers engaging workers through a third party to obtain that the third parties' agreement to adhere to the code of conduct.
As part of our ongoing risk assessment and due diligence processes we will consider whether circumstances warrant us carrying out audits to suppliers for their compliance with our Code of Conduct.

If we find that other individuals or organisations working on our behalf have breached this policy we will ensure that we take appropriate action. This may range from considering the possibility of breaches being remediated and whether that might represent the best outcome for those individuals impacted by the breach to terminating such contracts.
